MARRYING INTO ELDER ABUSE

presented by Ellen McKissock, Esq.

How to balance the fundamental right to marry with protecting elders from financial abuse?

The Estate Planning Council of San Bernardino County is pleased to welcome Ellen McKissock to the October meeting to share her perspective on predatory marriage.

Ms. McKissock was a lead proponent of California Assembly Bill 328, which was signed into law by Governor Brown in 2019. AB328 modified the Probate Code to make it more difficult for paid caregivers to take advantage of elders through marriage.  Ms. McKissock is a sha reholder at the law firm of  Hopkins & Carley in San Jose.  She has been a litigator for nearly  40 years, with the second half of her career focused  on t rusts and e states litigation.
